Hopewind Electric's VFD have been successfully exported to Indonesia, playing a crucial role in the recent 1450mm hot rolling project for PT. Lautan Steel Indonesia. This project, powered by Hopewind's cutting-edge transmission frequency conversion system, has not only boosted the industrial capabilities of Indonesia Ocean Special Steel but also enriched its product range, bolstered market competitiveness, and fostered green, low-carbon steel production. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Hopewind Electric in advancing its presence in Belt and Road countries and showcasing domestic inverter technology on the global stage.
Situated in Banten Province along the Belt and Road international cooperation route, the Indonesia Ocean Special Steel 1450mm hot rolling project features key equipment like a walking heating furnace, a roughing mill with upper and lower roller motors, seven four-roller finishing mills, flying shears, laminar cooling systems, coilers, and pallet transportation systems. Hopewind Electric has spearheaded the design, supply, and commissioning of nine sets of medium-voltage main and auxiliary drive frequency conversion systems for the entire line, boasting a total capacity of 130MW. Notably, this project marks the first export of domestic frequency converters for a metallurgical hot rolling line.
The main drive frequency conversion system, utilizing the Hopewind HD8000 series medium-voltage engineering drive system, features a groundbreaking three-level design based on IGCT devices. With impressive power capabilities—up to 17MVA per machine—it stands as the largest three-level medium-voltage frequency conversion system in the industry. The system efficiently powers the roughing mill's upper and lower roller motors with two 17MVA frequency converters and the finishing mill's motors with seven 12MVA medium-voltage frequency converters, eliminating the need for parallel connections.
Hopewind's HD8000 series has undergone rigorous third-party testing, demonstrating top-notch speed regulation accuracy, torque response time, and power density. Beyond hot rolling applications, this system proves versatile across various metallurgical rolling lines, delivering exceptional performance in diverse settings such as cold rolling mills, high-wire finishing mills, and seamless steel pipe rolling mills.
Additionally, the project's auxiliary drive relies on the Hopewind HD2000 series low-voltage engineering variable frequency drive system, known for its robust overload capacity, system stability, and superior performance metrics. The seamless commissioning of this project, achieved through dedicated R&D support and technical assistance, not only marks a significant step in Hopewind Electric's integration into the Belt and Road initiative but also stands as a resounding endorsement of its products and services within the industry.
Looking ahead, Hopewind Electric is poised to deepen its foothold in the metallurgical sector, further solidifying its position in the domestic market while actively expanding its global reach. By leveraging Chinese technology to empower industrial intelligent manufacturing, Hopewind Electric remains committed to shaping a brighter future for all stakeholders involved.
